Who I Am

I am an educator, consultant, and author with more than 35 years of experience supporting students with disabilities and the professionals and families who serve them. My work is grounded in a deep understanding of both classroom-level practice and system-wide implementation, allowing me to support meaningful change that is realistic, respectful, and sustainable.

My History

My career has spanned roles as a special education teacher, district-level leader, university instructor, and regional autism consultant. Across these settings, I have worked alongside teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to design and implement effective instructional and behavioral supports for students with complex needs. In addition to my consulting work, I have spent many years teaching at the university level, preparing future educators in special education, early intervention, and inclusive practices. I have also authored professional and children’s books focused on social-emotional learning, self-management, and inclusive education. These experiences have shaped my belief that lasting impact comes not from programs or checklists, but from thoughtful coaching, collaboration, and a deep respect for the realities educators and families face every day.

I Believe:

  • Educators want to do right by students and benefit from thoughtful, non-judgmental support

  • Evidence-based practices must be adapted to real classrooms, not applied rigidly

  • Families deserve collaborative guidance that builds understanding and confidence

  • Sustainable change happens when systems, teams, and individuals are supported together

Providing services virtually allows me to partner with schools and families in a flexible, responsive way while maintaining a strong focus on collaboration, reflection, and practical problem solving. Virtual coaching creates space for meaningful conversations, ongoing support, and thoughtful application of strategies across settings.
